Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t have much time to recruit since taking over in late December, so he’s got his work cut out for him on signing day.

The Michigan Wolverines hit a home run with the hire of former quarterback and Heisman finalist under Bo Schembechler when Jim Harbaugh was hired in December to replace the fired Brady Hoke.

As great as the hire was, and it was the best possible hire they could have made, it doesn’t mean the Wolverines are about to sign one of the nation’s top recruiting classes on National Signing Day.

It actually means they’re going to have one of the worst classes in the Big Ten, if not the worst class in the 14-team league and one of the smallest classes as well.

  • Look for Harbaugh to have a potential top-10 class in 2016 when he has a full year to work the recruiting trail, because it is unfair to judge him this year when he had a month to put together a class.

Michigan has the nation’s No. 64 class in the nation and the lowest-ranked class in the Big Ten, but after flipping Zach Gentry from Texas and the potential re-commitment from tight end Chris Clark, Michigan could finish strong and get some momentum heading into next year.

    Update: 3:00 p.m.

Michigan was unable to sign Chris Clark or Mike Weber, but the Wolverines climbed 22 spots on signing day to get the No. 49 class in the nation.
