Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon was suspended for at least the 2015 season by the NFL.

Josh Gordon’s troubled career suffered another hit on Tuesday as the National Football League suspended the former Cleveland Browns All-Pro wide receiver for at least the 2015 season after his latest violation of the League’s substance abuse policy.

Gordon will be suspended immediately and will not be paid during the suspension.

The latest violation came in December when Gordon tested positive for alcohol. He will have reapply for reinstatement when the NFL decides he is eligible to return. He had been the subject of trade bait for the Browns after a disappointing 2014 in which he caught just 24 passes after returning to the team following a 10-game suspension for a previous violation.

Gordon caught 87 passes for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in 2013, earning All-Pro honors despite missing two games with a suspension.

Browns general manager Ray Farmer spared no emotion with his statement:

“Throughout his career we have tried to assist him in getting support like we would with any member of our organization. Unfortunately our efforts have not resonated with him. It is evident that Josh needs to make some substantial strides to live up to the positive culture we are trying to build this football team upon. Our hope is that this suspension affords Josh the opportunity to gain some clarity in determining what he wants to accomplish moving forward and if he wants a career in the Nation Football League. We will have no further comment on Josh as he will not be permitted in our facility for the duration of his suspension.”

In short, Josh Gordon is probably done in the NFL. What a waste.
