Texas was believed to be the leader for running back Chris Warren and that was realized on National Signing Day when he committed to the Longhorns.

Chris Warren was down to Washington and Texas when the four-star running back prepared to announce his college decision in front of family and friends on National Signing Day. And used a flip of the coin to help make his decision.

The 6-2, 240-pound power back from Rockwall, TX ultimately chose to stay close to home and signed with Charlie Strong’s Texas program over the Huskies.

Warren is the nation’s No. 77 ranked recruit overall regardless of position, No. 8 running back and the No. 12 recruit in the talent-rich state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Texas gets a physical back who should fit in nicely in Austin with their style of play and should help revitalize their ground game after rushing for 2, 329 yards and 34 touchdowns as a senior at Rockwall high school.

The Longhorns are still waiting to find out if they’ll be adding to their 2015 class with an announcement from five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack later in the day, but Texas appears poised to have a top-10 class in the first full year on the recruiting trail for Strong.
