Mississippi State beat LSU in the regular season and they beat the Tigers for No. 1 inside linebacker Leo Lewis on National Signing Day.
Dan Mullen led his Mississippi State Bulldogs to the school’s greatest season that saw them win 10 games, play in the Orange Bowl and achieve the school’s first No. 1 ranking.
Now Mullen needed to capitalize on that success and sign a top-20 class for 2015 and getting No. 1 inside linebacker and in-state product, Leo Lewis was the main objective on National Signing Day.

The Bulldogs got their man after the Brookhaven, MS native picked Mississippi State over the LSU Tigers to give the Dawgs their second highest ranked recruit for their class that ranks 17th in the nation at the time of the commitment.
Lewis originally committed to Alabama but backed off that pledge in the summer and later committed to Ole Miss. He then backed off his pledge to the Rebels on Jan. 30, one week after taking an official visit to Oxford and during an official visit to LSU.
I thought the Tigers would get Lewis, but credit Mullen and his coaching staff for never giving up and putting the full court press on the 6-3, 225-pound linebacker who could find early playing time in the middle of the defense with Benardrick McKinney heading to the NFL Draft.
