Five-star defensive tackle Terry Beckner commits to the Missouri Tigers.
Terry Beckner (East St. Louis, IL. East St. Louis) was down to the Missouri Tigers and Florida State Seminoles when he made his announcement on ESPNU on National Signing Day with Missouri believed to be the favorite after taking his last official visit there on Jan. 30. Ohio State and Auburn were also in the mix for the dominant interior defender.

When he got in front of the microphone on signing day he said he followed his heart and held up a Missouri pennant to announce he would be playing for the Tigers.
This is not a big surprise considering his high school coach said in January he believed Beckner was leaning toward Missouri based on their track record of sending defensive linemen to the NFL, including Sheldon Richardson, Kony Ealy and top 2015 draft prospect Shane Ray.
Gary Pinkel’s club landed their biggest recruit for the 2015 class on a big National Signing Day for the two-time defending SEC East champions.
Beckner is the nation’s No. 13 ranked player overall regardless of position, the No. 3 defensive tackle and the No. 1 recruit in the state of Illinois, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The 6-4, 293-pound defensive lineman has a motor that never stops and never gives up on plays as evidenced by his 117 and 118 tackles the last two seasons in high school. He’s a disruptor who can chase plays down along the perimeter as well as three yards deep in the backfield. He had 17 sacks over the last two years too so he can make plays in the passing game as well as the run.
