Fantasy Basketball: Late Night FanDuel Lineups For February 5

There are only two games tonight for the late night tournaments again (Dallas at Sacramento, Phoenix at Portland). As you can see by the teams included, there is still plenty of talent available. Many people will have the same lineups, but there is enough of a degree of difficulty that there will also be several different ones

Here are my late night FanDuel lineups for February 5:

Point Guards:

Bargains:

J.J. Barea, Mavericks ($3,900): Barea still managed to top 20 fantasy points even with Devin Harris playing 20 minutes. Harris will still see plenty of court time, but Barea is the starter, and should see most of the minutes. Even against Sacramento, he is still a good play and should reach 6x value or more.

Isaiah Thomas, Suns ($5,800): Thomas has been over 27 fantasy points in seven of his last eight games. The only exception was the disaster against the Bulls last Friday. Considering the fact that he did it against Memphis, the Clippers, and Washington over that span, it is not a fluke. He is a sneaky value play tonight.

Worth The Cost:

Damian Lillard, Trailblazers ($8,800): Aside from his sub-par game against Cleveland (22.5 fantasy points), Lillard has been on a tear lately. He has averaged 38.2 fantasy points per game over his last ten. Tonight he takes on a fast-paced Suns team that should push his productivity close to the 5x mark.

Darren Collison, Kings ($6,800): Collison has put up back to back games over 30 fantasy points after a couple of clunkers last week. He is a solid play against Dallas since Rajon Rondo is still out. Barea and Harris are decent defenders, but they are no Rondo. Collison has a great chance to keep his streak alive.

Risky Plays:

Goran Dragic, Suns ($6,300): Dragic has had two awful games (5 fantasy points against Houston in 18 minutes, 12.8 fantasy points against the Warriors in 34 minutes) recently. If you get saddled with one of those tonight, you are done for. He has put up one 40+ point fantasy game in his last ten, but it was against the Lakers. His upside is not enough for me to take this big of a risk on.

Devin Harris, Mavericks ($3,700): Harris has actually been more consistent as the backup, and was expected to start in place of Rondo. The Mavericks decided that he was better suited to remain the backup, but he has still played an average of 25.5 minutes since Rondo went down. His production is in the same area as Barea, so if you decide that you need the extra $200 elsewhere, Harris is a decent fallback option.

My Lineups:

A: Lillard andĀ Barea ($12,700)

B: Collison and Barea ($10,700)

Next: Not Many Reliable Options At SG

Feb 3, 2015; Portland, OR, USA; Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews (2) reacts after making a three point basket against the Utah Jazz during the fourth quarter at the Moda Center. Mandatory Credit: Craig Mitchelldyer-USA TODAY Sports

Shooting Guards:

Bargain:

Wesley Matthews, Trailblazers ($5,900): Matthews is back on track after a couple of off games against Cleveland and Atlanta. If you take those games out, Matthews has been at or over 27 fantasy points for the last nine games. He has a great matchup against the Suns, who don’t defend the two particularly well. He should have no problem getting over 27 fantasy points again.

Worth The Cost:

Eric Bledsoe, Suns ($8,600): Bledsoe has not been under 20 fantasy points yet in 2015, and is averaging 36.3 fantasy points in his last ten games. He could have trouble reaching that average against Portland, but the Suns score a lot of points. You know Bledsoe is going to be heavily involved more often than not.

Monta Ellis, Mavericks ($7,900): Ellis has a great matchup against the Kings tonight. They have been torched by shooting guards repeatedly for most of the season. Klay Thompson had his career high against them a few weeks ago. I’m not saying Ellis will drop 50, but he could put in 30. The last time he scored 30 points, his fantasy output was at 46. He could get close to that tonight.

Risky Play:

Ben McLemore, Kings ($4,400): McLemore has been in the 20’s for fantasy points four times out of his last ten games. That is good for him. He is constantly in the mid teens though. He is obviously no better than the fourth option on this team, so his numbers aren’t likely to take a significant jump anytime soon. That said, he could find some open shots against Dallas. But there is just as much of a chance as him being in the low teens for fantasy points. He is a risk no matter how you look at it, but he is a starter for cheap.

My Lineups:

A: Bledsoe and Matthews ($14,500)

B: Matthews and McLemore ($10,300)

Next: Lots Of Good Options At SF For A Change

Feb 2, 2015; Dallas, TX, USA; Dallas Mavericks forward Al-Farouq Aminu (7) dunks the ball against the Minnesota Timberwolves during the first half at the American Airlines Center. Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Small Forwards:

Bargain:

Al-Farouq Aminu, Mavericks ($4,300): Aminu has been a beast off of the Dallas bench lately. He has been over 20 fantasty points in five straight games, and has averaged 27.3 fantasy points over that span. He has become the surefire way to get 6x value for cheap. The Mavs are going to ride him until he cools down. You should too.

Worth The Cost:

Chandler Parsons, Mavericks ($6,100): Parsons has put up 72 fantasy points in two games since his return. He has been contributing across the board. Along as he is doing that, he is going to get you great value for the money.

Rudy Gay, Kings ($7,900): In his last seven full games, Gay is averaging 33.5 fantasy points per game. He could have a hard time getting much over that with the way Dallas is playing at the three, but he should at least be around 30. If you have the money to pay for this kind of insurance, it might be worth it.

Risky Play:

Nicolas Batum, Trailblazers ($5,600): Batum has been all over the place. In his last ten games, he has been between 9.6 and 46.5 fantasy points. Something in the low end of the spectrum is going to torpedo your team. Is it worth the risk?

My Lineups:

A: Batum and Aminu ($9,900)

B: Parsons and Batum ($11,700)

Next: You Need To Have LMA On Your Team

Power Forwards:

Bargain:

Jason Thompson, Kings ($3,900): Though Thompson hasn’t yet reclaimed the starting PF job in Sacramento, he is still playing a lot of minutes. Carl Landry is not at 100% yet and Derrick Williams is rarely a strong option. It should be Thompson’s to lose, so if you need to go really cheap at PF, Thompson is likely your best bet.

Worth The Cost:

LaMarcus Aldridge, Trailblazers ($9,800): Aldridge is a strong bet to approach 50 fantasy points against the Suns tonight at about $1500 less than DeMarcus Cousins. The thumb obviously is not bothering him that much, as he has averaged 45.5 fantasy points per game since his return to the court. I would imagine that he would be above average given the opponent. For that reason. I would rate him just slightly above Cousins on the night, just because he is cheaper.

Dirk Nowitzki, Mavericks ($6,500): Dirk continues to keep putting up between 20 and 30 fantasy points. He doesn’t have much upside, but you are paying for a sure thing here. Morris has more upside, but Dirk is the safer play.

Risky Play:

Markieff Morris, Suns ($6,400): Morris has been over 20 fantasy points in eight of his last ten games. Maybe there is finally starting to be some consistency here. The only problem is that he has to face LaMarcus Aldridge tonight. The last time Morris played Portland on January 21st, he had just 15 fantasy points in 29 minutes. Oh, and Aldridge missed that game. You always have to be aware of these kinds of things when rolling the dice with Morris, but he could be worth it.

My Lineups:

A and B: Aldridge and Morris ($16,200)

Next: What Do You Do If You Can't Afford Cousins?

Feb 3, 2015; Sacramento, CA, USA; Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins (15) speaks to a Golden State Warriors fan in the stands during the second quarter at Sleep Train Arena. Mandatory Credit: Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Center:

Bargain:

Brandan Wright, Suns ($3,700): Alex Len is not developing like the Suns had hoped, and this team is good enough to make the playoffs if they had some stability in the middle. Enter Wright, who has outscored Len fantasy-wise in each of his last four games. His minutes are increasing as well. It could just be a matter of time until he pushes Len out of the starting role, but at any rate, as long as he sees decent minutes, he will give you between 5 and 6x value consistently. If you have to go cheap, he is the best option.

Worth The Cost:

DeMarcus Cousins, Kings ($11,100): Cousins has racked up 157.1 fantasy points in his last three games. Dallas is solid up front, but by no means are they great. Chandler might succeed in keeping Cousins under 50, but I would bet it wont be by much.

Risky Play

Tyson Chandler, Mavericks ($6,700): I am not crazy about his matchup against Cousins, but you can’t ignore the kind of roll he has been on. Chandler is averaging 33.5 fantasy points per game over his last five contests. That said, he has not played a tough frontcourt during that time. Against Memphis and New Orleans prior to this streak, he had just 14.5 and 21.4 fantasy points respectively. He is a risk against good centers, but he could still get around 25 points. Which is probably the best you can do if you can’t afford Cousins.
