With their new football complex under construction, Kansas State will hold its annual spring football game at Kansas City’s Sporting Park.
Kansas State announced Thursday it will play its annual spring football game off campus in April, heading to Kansas City’s Sporting Park.
The move is necessitated by the construction of the school’s new football complex.

According to The Kansas City Star, the game will be played April 25 at the 18,467-seat soccer stadium, home of Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer.
This isn’t the first time the facility has hosted American football. Colorado State Pueblo beat Minnesota State-Mankato 13-0 for the NCAA Division II championship in December.
“It will be a great experience for our team to go play in a first-class venue like Sporting Park,” offensive lineman Cody Whitehair said. “We have the best fans in the country and I know I speak for the entire team when I say we are looking forward to a stadium packed full of purple on April 25.”
Tickets will go on sale Feb. 23 to boosters and to the public on March 2, with prices ranging from $5 to $175.

Kansas State needed a waiver to move the spring game off-campus, because recruits will be hosted that weekend as well. The waiver was granted by the NCAA because of safety concerns over the construction at the on-campus site.
“We’ll be rolling out the purple welcome mat for our many alumni, fans and friends,” university president Kirk Schulz said. “This is a great chance to showcase the university in one of the most dynamic and exciting districts in the region.”
Coach Bill Snyder will be entering his seventh season of his second stint with the Wildcats and his 24th season in Manhattan overall and what he has done there—twice—is nothing short of amazing.
Snyder has a record of 187-94-1 in 23 seasons at Kansas State. Every other coach in the history of the program has combined to go 257-483-34 in the other 80 seasons the Wildcats have played football.
How much has Snyder meant at Kansas State. The program has played in 18 bowl games. All but two have come with Snyder on the sidelines.
Last season, Kansas State was 9-4, including a 40-35 loss to UCLA in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio. All four losses came to teams that were ranked in the top 10 in the nation at the time.
