The Detroit Lions are in danger of losing Ndamukong Suh, and the Indianapolis Colts cold be a dark horse option that ends up being a perfect fit.

Ndamukong Suh is going to hit the open market, at least that’s the way it seems at the moment. The Detroit Lions seem unable to work anything out with him and that is leading to frustration on all fronts that looks to be leading towards a release.

The next order of business is figuring out who is going to sign Suh and if they’ll take a chance on him.

According to Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star, the Colts have been trying avoid players like Ndamukong Suh in the past but he could be exactly what they need to get them to the next level as an entire unit.

"Ndamukong Suh is the right guy – no, the perfect guy – for the Colts to sign this offseason. He’s disruptive, gifted. Dominant. The Colts need a player like that around here.So for the Colts, what it comes down to is this: How badly do they want to be great?"

This is a dilemma that more then just the Colts will face this offseason. There are plenty of teams out there — in fact, every team — that would love to sign Suh and get him on their defensive front but it’s the stigma that comes attached to him that will scare teams off.

It’s the dichotomy of Suh that so many teams will wrestle with this offseason as he’s without a doubt the most controversial free agent in recent memory. Teams like the Raiders, Seahawks and Lions won’t bat an eye at signing him but he’s going to want top dollar and that’s where more skeptical teams come into play.

Suh landing with the Colts would instantly change their culture, but it could also be great for Suh as a person. Chuck Pagano has dealt with defensive personalities in the past, as his days with the Baltimore Ravens were filled with characters.

Pagano could be what Suh needs to straighten out or at the very least behave as best he can. Either way, the Colts are a potential landing spot for Ndamukong Suh and it’s a marriage that could end up being brilliant.
