Despite the fact that Oregon has reportedly offered Vernon Adams a scholarship, according to the Spokesman Review, the dual threat quarterback may have more than one school interested in having him come to their program.

According to Sports Illustrated, both the UCLA and Texas programs are interested in grabbing Adams.

Adams is due to graduate in June and is immediately eligible to transfer and play a fifth season in 2015. His high school coach Dean Harrison told the Oregonian that he has been fielding calls about Adams ever since Oregon’s interest in him became public knowledge. He said that UCLA and Texas have definite interest, but that he believes Adams’ decision will still ultimately come down between Oregon and staying at Eastern Washington.

They told me a lot of things I wanted to hear,” said Adams of Oregon. “I’m not saying I’m leaving Eastern, but I’m just going to check it out and see what they have to say.” (via Sports Illustrated)

Adams made an official visit to Oregon at the end of January and upon returning to Cheney, Washington, he said that he might make a decision whether to stay at Eastern Washington vs going to Oregon as soon as Monday. Beau Baldwin, the coach of Eastern Washington, says he plans to meet with Adams on Monday also to discuss the quarterback’s options. He said he believes that the decision will be made sooner rather than later and will not be prolonged for weeks.

Even though Oregon has offered Adams a scholarship, they have given him no guarantee of starting. Oregon is actually packed with quarterback talent and Adams would be just one more competing for the starting job. UCLA and Texas both have promising talents in Josh Rosen and Kai Locksley, however both are also young and it would seem like Adams would have more of a chance to compete there.

A few factors might contribute to Adams staying at Eastern Washington. He has said that he loves the area and he and his team have some unfinished business in that they’ve fallen short of the FCS title three straight years. Adams might want to make that his goal in the end.
