Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam showed displeasure with young wide receiver Josh Gordon and said that the troubled player has not accepted responsibility.

Josh Gordon has the talent to be one of the most dynamic players in the NFL, but he has been extremely dumb off-the-field and was once again busted for a failed drug test. The Browns haven’t cut ties with him yet, but they certainly aren’t sold on keeping him around long-term either.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam talked about his troubled young wide receiver, and made it clear that he is unhappy with the decision that Gordon is making away from football. He said that Gordon hasn’t been accepting responsibility, which is a major understatement.

“We have the responsibility to get the most out of our players and take care of them. He’s failed to accept responsibility,” Haslam said. “At a certain point in time, an individual’s got to do what’s right. We hope he can get his life together.”

Cleveland doesn’t have any other wide receivers with any type of number one talent, and Gordon’s latest issue is just another major disappointment for the Browns. Their offense doesn’t have a very good outlook at this point in time with Gordon’s issues and Johnny Manziel’s poor play, and it could be awhile before they’re back in playoff contention.

During the 2014 season, Gordon was only able to participate in five regular season games due a different suspension. He came back and caught 24 passes for 303 yards and no touchdowns. Throughout his three-year NFL career, Gordon has caught a total of 161 passes for 2,754 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Those numbers show the potential that Gordon has, but he keeps fumbling it away with these stupid off-the-field decisions. He simply hasn’t learned how to grow up and enjoy the dream that almost every young boy in America has of being a star in the NFL.

At just 23 years of age, the potential is still there for him to turn things around and get himself back on track. It isn’t going to be easy, but if he puts his head to it he is more than capable of making it happen. Drugs are a very difficult habit to break, but Gordon has the money to get good help and move on from this period of his life.

All of that being said, it doesn’t sound like Haslam is willing to put up with much more from Gordon. He will need to get his head on straight immediately if he wants to continue his career with the Browns.
