For his first dunk in the contest, LaVine wore a “Toon Squad” jersey which Michael Jordan and the characters from Looney Toons wore in Jordan’s 90’s hit film “Space Jam.”
With LaVine paying homage to Jordan and the dunk contests of old, his incredible slams led him to winning this year’s dunk contest with ease.
In the spirit of good fun, LaVine’s dunks have been remixed to R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.”
The video has LaVine’s dunks in slow motion as he gracefully glides through the airs and throws down his jams to the tune. LaVine’s throwback to the “Space Jam” and the dunks of old still have people talking about last night’s competition.
For the NBA, having LaVine in more dunk contests in a must.
Now, if only they could work on that LeBron fella. LeBron vs. LaVine sure does sound fun.
