As the NBA trade deadline approaches, Denver guard Arron Afflalo has drawn a lot of interest from many teams, but it looks like Portland will have the best chances.

The Portland Trail Blazers seem to be in the best spot to grab Denver Nuggets guard Arron Afflalo before the trade deadline hits, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

Many teams are shopping the 29-year-old shooting guard including the Clippers, Heat, Thunder and now the Sacramento Kings may be looking to add the guard who used to play for new Kings coach George Karl in Denver.

Grantland.com’s Zach Lowe wrote that Portland will most likely deal their first round pick in the upcoming NBA draft in order to secure Afflalo without getting rid of rotation players.

“Portland’s 2015 first-rounder might be a long shot, but Olshey’s a smart GM, and it represents a precious chance to restock with a quality player on a cost-controlled rookie deal,” Lowe said.  It matters…There’s no right answer. Dealing their first-round pick might not be a monumental risk for the Blazers, but it would carry some cost. I bet they do it.”

Thomas Robinson is a young role player that Portland has in the last year of his contract, and is another possibility in this potential trade.

Lowe also said that Portland has talked with Toronto about young guard Terrance Ross who has been coming off the bench for the Raptors. Regardless, it seems that the Blazers will add an important role playing two-guard before the trade deadline strikes Thursday at noon.

Arron Afflalo rejoined the Nuggets this season after spending two years with the Orlando Magic. In 33 minutes per game, he’s average 14.5 points this year.
