Fantasy Basketball: FanDuel Lineups For February 21

There are five games in the NBA tonight, but that doesn’t mean that there is a lack of choices. There are six players that are priced over $10,000, and another three that are over $9,000. This will also mark the debuts of most of the players that were traded on Thursday, so there promises to be a lot of action in FanDuel tonight!

More from FanDuel

Here are my FanDuel Lineups for February 21:

Point Guards:

Bargains:

Mo Williams, Hornets ($5,400): The Hornets have yet to play with their new toy that they acquired just before the All Star break. Williams will make his debut with Charlotte tonight, which will send Brian Roberts back to the bench. Williams performed well while filling in for Ricky Rubio in Minnesota, so there is reason to believe that he can have similiar success in Charlotte. He has a tough matchup against the Thunder tonight, but there aren’t any good low-priced options out there. If you can’t afford one of the big guys, and don’t want to take a big risk, Williams it is!

Patrick Beverley, Rockets ($4,800): Beverley was serviceable again last night, scoring in the 20’s for the fifth time in his last six games. He won’t produce any eye-popping stats for you, but he is a sure 20, putting him at a solid 4x value with the potential of up to 5. You can do much worse on a night like tonight.

Worth The Cost:

Russell Westbrook, Thunder ($11,000): Westbrook followed up an MVP performance in the All Star game with another 53 fantasy points. Westbrook is one of the few guys that can consistently score in the 50’s, especially if Kevin Durant misses tonight’s game as expected. I’m not sure that Mo Williams will be able to stop him either. Expect more of the same from Westbrook.

Chris Paul, Clippers ($10,000): Paul torched the Spurs on Thursday night to the tune of 50 fantasy points. Darren Collison is still questionable for tonight. If he can’t go, that will open things up for Paul again. Even if Collison does play, his hip likely won’t be 100%. Paul should have another big night regardless.

Risky Plays:

Goran Dragic, Heat ($6,000): Dragic will make his debut with the Heat tonight, but it is unclear how much he will play. Especially considering the game Chalmers had last night. I expect Dragic to have a big impact with the Heat, just not tonight. Wait until you see how he does on his new team before using him in daily leagues.

Andre Miller, Kings ($3,500): Miller is a perfect fit for George Karl’s system. If Collison is out again, I expect Miller to be the primary beneficiary. He was last night in his first game with the team. He could be an extraordinary value with Collison out. The only problem is the decision on Collison likely won’tĀ be revealed by the time the early games tip. My gut feeling is that Collison won’t play, but do you want to gamble on that?

My Lineups:

A: Westbrook and Williams ($16,500)

B: Westbrook and Paul ($21,000)

Next: Several Great Options At SG

Feb 18, 2015; Tempe, AZ, USA; Arizona State Sun Devils former guard James Harden reacts as he has his number retired during a halftime ceremony against the UCLA Bruins at Wells-Fargo Arena. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Shooting Guards:

Bargains:

DeMar DeRozan, Raptors ($6,900): DeRozan has four straight 30+ point fantasy games, and he gets the pleasure of facing the Rockets and their weak perimeter defense. A fifth is a virtual certainty, and 5x value is not unrealistic. It could go even higher.

Jamal Crawford, Clippers ($5,700): Crawford has been on quite a roll lately. He has averaged 31.2 fantasy points per game over his last five games. Tonight he gets the Kings, whose one weak spot on defense is, you guessed it, the two guard. Remember what Klay Thompson did to them? I’m not saying Crawford is going to go all Klay on the Kings, but he should be able to keep his 30 fantasy point average up.

Worth The Cost:

Jimmy Butler, Bulls ($8,800): Butler erupted against the Pistons last night, and he has a great chance to do the same thing against a transitioning Suns teams tonight. Butler scored 38.4 fantasy points against the Suns on January 30th. That was a different Suns team, but there is no reason to believe that Butler can’t do it again.

James Harden, Rockets ($10,800): Harden wasn’t his normal, dominant FanDuel self last night. He ā€œonlyā€ had 39.8 fantasy points, which is not a bad total for most players, but it is less than 4x value for Harden. Tonight he gets a Raptors team that doesn’t defend the perimeter very well. I’m notĀ  saying he will be back to his 50 point ways, but I would expect him to be over 4x value tonight.

Risky Plays:

Eric Bledsoe, Suns ($8,400): His reinforcements should arrive tonight, but there is still no news on whether Brandon Knight will start or not. That may keep Bledsoe at the point where he struggled last night against the Timberwolves. He was held to 25.4 fantasy points, which is not nearly enough for his price. He was successful against the Bulls his last time out, but that was with Dragic and Isaiah Thomas alongside him. Knight will play in some capacity, but there are bound to be growing pains in a new offense. I wouldn’t take the risk on Bledsoe for the time being.

Lou Williams, Raptors ($5,100): Lou Will has been on fire over the last couple of games. He has 82.1 fantasy points in those two games. In the game before that? He had 0.7 fantasy points. There is a risk involved, but the Rockets are not great on the perimeter. There is a chance that Williams has another good game. Maybe not 40 points good, but good enough to warrant his price.

My Lineups:

A: DeRozan and Crawford ($12,600)

B:Ā Butler and Crawford ($14,500)

Next: Who Should You Play With Durant Out?

Jan 31, 2015; Denver, CO, USA; Charlotte Hornets forward Gerald Henderson (9) during the game against the Denver Nuggets at Pepsi Center. Mandatory Credit: Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Small Forwards:

Bargains:

Gerald Henderson, Hornets ($5,700): The All-Star break couldn’t have come at a worse time for Henderson. He has averaged 31.2 fantasy points in the five games leading up to the break. The absence of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist wasn’t the cause; MKG played in four of those contests. He is a great play at this price, no matter who the opponent is. The Kevin Durant-less Thunder looks like a good matchup.

Trevor Ariza, Rockets ($5,600): Ariza has eight straight games of more than 20 fantasy points. He has been over 25 fantasy points in five of those games. His consistency is impressive, and gives you a nice, solid source of points for a reasonable price. He doesn’t have a lot of upside, but if you want consistency, he is your man.

Worth The Cost:

Rudy Gay, Kings ($7,200): Gay has averaged 38 fantasy points over the last three games. The Kings have been using Gay at the PF some, and he seems to be thriving in that situation. With Durant out, Gay is the best candidate for a 40+ fantasy point night from the SF position. If you have the money, he is a good play.

Risky Plays:

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Hornets ($5,700): MKG will start against the Thunder tonight, which looks to be a really good matchup for him. The only issue is he scored only 29.3 fantasy points in the two combined games that he played before the break. The success of Henderson is cutting into MKG’s productivity, and that will likely continue until Henderson cools off.

Kyle Singler, Thunder ($3,500): Singler will get the start for the Thunder tonight with Durant out. The newly acquired Singler is a better fit in Oklahoma City than he was in Detroit. He will likely see more minutes starting for the Thunder than he did for the Pistons. That makes him a pretty good play. The only thing that I have a question about is how he will fit in the offense. The Thunder run one of the more sophisticated offenses in the league, and will likely take Singler some time to learn. That makes him a risk.

My Lineups:

A: Gay and Henderson ($12,900)

B: Henderson and Singler ($9,200)

Next: Should You Spend On AD?

Feb 8, 2015; Sacramento, CA, USA; Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris (11) shoots the ball between Sacramento Kings forward Jason Thompson (34) and center DeMarcus Cousins (15) during the first quarter at Sleep Train Arena. Mandatory Credit: Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Power Forwards:

Bargains:

Markieff Morris, Suns ($6,200): Morris went berserk on the Timberwolves last night. With the team not being as guard-heavy now, Morris looks like a really strong play. He did well against the Bulls last time they met on January 30th, and that was before the switch to a more traditional lineup. There is a chance he could go for 40 again tonight.

Marcus Morris,Ā  Suns ($3,900): Marcus also played well for the Suns against Minnesota last night, putting up 23 fantasy points. He is a bit of a risk because he doesn’t start, but the prospects look good for him tonight. He played well against the Bulls in their last meeting, scoring 22.5 fantasy points. If he can duplicate that, he is a 6.5x value.

Worth The Cost:

Pau Gasol, Bulls ($9,700): Gasol was limited by the outstanding Pistons frontcourt last night. Don’t expect that to happen again tonight. He put up 38.3 fantasy points on the Suns in their last meeting, which would put him at around 4x value.

Serge Ibaka, Thunder ($7,100): Ibaka dominated the Mavericks on Thursday. Tonight he takes on the Hornets, who are solid up front, but I still like Ibaka. He will help shoulder some of the scoring load with Durant out. The only thing that I can see being a problem is Enes Kanter. We don’t how how the two are going to mesh together, but the incumbent Ibaka will have the upper hand in the early going. He wont get the 45 fantasy points that he got against Dallas, but he should be well over 20. He has only been under 20 fantasy points once in the month of February.

Risky Plays:

Anthony Davis, Pelicans ($11,000): Davis struggled in his return last night against the Magic. He looks to have a fantastic matchup against the Heat without Chris Bosh, but he may still be shaking some rust off. He needs 46 fantasy points for 4.5x value. he didn’t even hit 30 last night, so that makes him a rather big risk.

Udonis Haslem, Heat ($3,500): Haslem played well in place of Bosh last night, and I expect that trend to continue. However, I really don’t like his matchup against Davis and the Pelicans. He only needs 17.5 fantasy points for 5x value, but that could be hard to come by tonight. Still, the 4x value of 14 fantasy points is attainable if you need to go cheap.

My Lineups:

A: Markieff and Haslem ($9,700)

B: Ibaka and Jason Thompson ($10,900): Thompson is still starting…….for now. At $3,800, he is putting up solid numbers.

Next: Is Jordan Still A Good Play Against Cousins?

Jan 31, 2015; Denver, CO, USA; Charlotte Hornets center Al Jefferson (25) during the game against the Denver Nuggets at Pepsi Center. Mandatory Credit: Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Center:

Bargains:

Alex Len, Suns ($4,400): Maybe shipping out Miles Plumlee was just what the doctor ordered for Len. He racked up 33 fantasy points against the Timberwolves last night, and he even gave Nikola Pekovic all he could handle on the defensive end. Joakim Noah is going to give him problems tonight, but at this low of a price, Len should have not problems getting 4.5x value (19.8 points).

Al Jefferson, Hornets ($8,300): Jefferson has averaged 35.1 fantasy points per game over his last ten games. That makes him an average of 4.5x value every time he steps on the court. He should have no problem getting that against the Thunder tonight. They are better on the interior with Kanter, but not enough to shut down Jefferson.

Worth The Cost:

DeAndre Jordan, Clippers (9,300): Jordan has been a monster over his last three games, putting up 177 fantasy points in that time. That is nearly a 60 fantasy point per game average! I don’t think he will get to that mark against DeMarcus Cousins and the Kings tonight. Though I would not be surprised to see him hit 40, which still makes him a solid play.

DeMarcus Cousins, Kings ($11,000): It should come as no surprise that Cousins beat up on the Celtics frontcourt last night. He does that against all of the undersized teams. The Clippers take a big hit losing Blake Griffin, which means that Cousins could have a nice game against the Clippers as well. Just be advised that 4.5x value is unlikely against Jordan.

Risky Play:

Hassan Whiteside, Heat ($7,700): Whiteside only played 20 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday, and still seems limited by his ankle. He has only played 30 minutes or more once in his last six games. That makes him a risk at that price.

My Lineups:

A: Jefferson ($8,300)

B: Len ($4,400)

More from FanSided

Enes Kanter, Thunder ($5,900): Kanter could be the big man that the Thunder so desperately need alongside Ibaka. He played well as the starter in Utah, and with aĀ  better offense around him in Oklahoma City, the potential is there for him to be even better in his new home. Will it happen tonight? Who knows. There is the risk.
