The Buffalo Bills are reportedly interested in trading for St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford.

This would certainly put an end to the short-lived EJ Manuel era in Buffalo.

According to Yahoo Sports, the Buffalo Bills are very interested in trading for St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford. The former Oklahoma quarterback missed all of last season after tearing his ACL, which is the second time in as many years Bradford has suffered an ACL tear. Still, the Bills believe he will be a better option than the young EJ Manuel.

League sources have told Yahoo Sports that Bills head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman are not convinced that EJ Manuel can be an NFL quarterback, and that they believe Sam Bradford can help them win right now. That is, if he can stay healthy. Since getting drafted by the Rams in 2010, Bradford has missed a total of 31 games due to injury.

When healthy, Bradford has shown that he can help a team win games. In 2012, which is the last time Bradford played a full season, he threw for 3,702 yards, 21 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and compiled a 82.6 QB rating. Not bad numbers at all, especially on a Rams team that did not have many offensive weapons for Bradford to work with.

The Bills still feel Bradford is worth the risk. The Bills have a young stud in the making in Sammy Watkins, and another solid young receiver in Robert Woods. After EJ Manuel lost his starting job to Kyle Orton this past season, Bills brass may have lost faith in the young quarterback.

Rams head coach Jeff Fischer, however, has denied that the Rams are looking to shop Bradford, who is set to make a base salary of almost $13 million in 2015. He’s even gone as far as to say that Bradford is his starting quarterback going into the 2015 season. If that’s true, it may take a significant amount to change Fischer’s mind, and the Bills may not have much to offer. They hold only six picks in this year’s draft and they don’t hold a first-round pick, as they traded it last year to move up in the draft to acquire Sammy Watkins.

If the Bills are seriously considering acquiring Sam Bradford, they may be forced to give up some major current assets in return.
