Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller couldn’t be happier having Rex Ryan as his head coach.

That’s most likely because he knows he could to get a bunch of touches in Rex Ryan’s ground-and-pound game strategy. That is, if the free agent running back chooses to stay in Buffalo.

Free agent running back C.J. Spiller was recently on Sirius XM NFL Radio to talk about his free agent status and where he thinks he’ll end up next year. According to his comment, I think the safe bet would be that he’ll be staying with the Buffalo Bills.

There are a lot of reasons for C.J. Spiller to be excited about Rex Ryan’s arrival in Buffalo. First of all, if Spiller chooses to stay in Buffalo, he won’t have to go up against a stubborn Rex Ryan defense twice a year anymore. That should make life a little bit easier on him going forward.

Secondly, Spiller will have the Rex Ryan defense on his side now. Buffalo’s defense was already ranked 4th in the entire NFL last season. They have a tremendous front seven that can get to the quarterback, as well as a decent secondary. This defense could become scary good under Rex Ryan.

Lastly, as stated before, Rex loves his ground-and-pound game strategy on offense, which will definitely perk up CJ’s ears. Spiller is a very physical, powerful runner. Just the kind of back that Ryan loves. He will definitely want to get the ball into Spiller’s hands as much as possible, especially with a young quarterback.

The Bills finished with a 9-7 record last year, mainly because of their stellar defensive unit that were able to keep them in every game. The first order of business for the Bills will be to resign C.J. Spiller, as the offense will most likely go through the running game next season. Then, if they can sure up the offensive line and maybe get a couple more weapons on offense to go alongside Spiller and Sammy Watkins, the Bills may be a force to be reckoned with in 2015.
