The Timberwolvesā trade for Kevin Garnett is one of the nicer stories for one of the worst teams in the NBA this year. Minnesota fans must be pinching themselves to make sure itās really true.
In case you werenāt sure it was really happening, we have photo evidence that Kevin Garnett is, in fact, a member of the Timberwolves once again.
Thatās a true blast from the past, isnāt it? Hereās one more:
Garnett is 38, heās been out of Minnesota since 2007, but now heās baaaack. Whereās Thin Lizzy when you need them? Oh, here they are.
Itās very rare that a star athlete leaves his original team, goes on to success elsewhere, and then returns. Timberwolves fans, and all NBA fans, should celebrate this, meaningless as it is for the Timberwolvesā lost season, because it so rarely happens. Sometimes athletes will sign those one-day contracts to āretire as a member of (insert team here),ā but here the Minnesota fans actually get to see Garnett play for their team one last time, in what is probably his last season.
I canāt think of too many examples of that. Charles Barkley never went back to Philly; Joe Montana never returned to the 49ers; and we never saw Pedro Martinez back in an Expos uniform, because the Expos died a tragic death. So savor this moment, Minnesota fans: itās practically one of a kind.
