The Minnesota Timberwolves re-acquired Kevin Garnett this season and his first re-introduction with the team was a phenomenal moment.

Kevin Garnett has returned home, as the Minnesota Timberwolves officially introduced him as a member of their team again in his first game back with the team on Wednesday night.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are not going anywhere and this may all end up being nothing more than a footnote in Garnett’s career, but it was still a magical moment. One thing that has been missing from the team is the veteran leadership Garnett brings to the team and that’s something to be excited about as a Wolves fan.

But tonight wasn’t about the future, it was about the present and the past as the first Wolves legend returning home was something that reminded us all that basketball indeed exists in Minnesota.

Kevin Garnett’s introduction with the Timberwolves — the first since he was traded to the Boston Celtics in 2008 — brought the Target Center to it’s feet and likely to the loudest volume it’s been at in years.

There have been ups and downs in Garnett’s history with the Timberwolves but his return tonight showed just how much love the team has for him. It took some years for the bitterness of him wanting to leave to evaporate — on both sides of the deal.

But that bitterness seems to be gone and even if it just lasts one night, it was a true full circle move for Garnett as his career has finally come all the way home.
