The SMU Mustangs football team broke out some sweet new patriotic helmets.
There aren’t many good things to say about the SMU Mustangs football team especially after their gut-wrenching 1-11 season last year, but today, the Mustangs get another win. This time, for their style.

SMU is sporting some brand new patriotic helmets that are absolutely jaw-dropping awesome. The typical SMU helmet is white with a red mustang, but now they have a blue helmet with an American flag mustang. Can’t get much cooler than that.

SMU had such a bad season last year, it looked as if they were going to forfeit the rest of their games. But, SMU has hired a new coach in Chad Morris and will play a tough 2015 season that starts off with the first two of three games being Baylor and TCU.
SMU went to four straight bowl games from 2009-2012 under head coach June Jones, but the last two seasons, the Mustangs have been struggling below .500 and Jones departed after starting 0-2 last season.
We’ll see if Morris and the new helmets can help perpetuate SMU to a postseason football team once again.
