Pablo Sandoval poses with stuffed pandas and a smile (Photo)
A picture of recently acquired Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval holding stuffed pandas has emerged online.
Pablo Sandoval appears to be as happy as ever. The three time World Series champion recently signed a five year $95 million deal with the Boston Red Sox this off-season to become the team’s new third baseman. Sandoval, 28, looks to join fellow MLB free agent acquisition Hanley Ramirez as part of a revitalized Boston line up, which has the franchise envisioning the postseason for the first time since clinching the 2013 World Series title. According to a recent photo, the “Kung Fu Panda” is even starting to embrace the nickname San Francisco Giants fans adorned him with back during his early days with the club.

The picture shows a jovial Sandoval posing with a couple of stuffed animal pandas. No doubt a reference to his moniker, Sandoval is all smiles. For reasons other than the picture, he should be. Starting this season, he will be making an average of $19 million over the next five seasons.
While it is not a mesmerizing total in the grand scheme of baseball contracts, think about it in the context of everyday life. Would you not be grinning like a kid in a candy store if you made that kind of coin to play a game most would for free?
He also goes from one great baseball town, to another. As historic a city as San Francisco is, Boston can lay claim to being one of the most die-hard epicenters of hardball fandom. In addition to moving to a league that boasts the added option of DH, something Sandoval could utilize in order to play even more often, the Red Sox are immediate contenders for a championship thanks to a nice little spending spree courtesy of owner John Henry and company.
