The Minnesota Vikings are trying to persuade superstar running back Adrian Peterson to return to the team in 2015 despite all of the issues between the two sides.

Adrian Peterson is a very popular name in the NFL, and his future with the Minnesota Vikings is very unclear. There are some rumors swirling that he could be on the trade block, while others say that the Vikings are going to do everything they can to convince him to come back.

According to a report from the Star Tribune, the Vikings are scheduled to meet with Peterson today in Houston.

General manager Rick Spielman talked about the conversations that the Vikings are having with Peterson. It has been made very well-known that Peterson isn’t happy with the way that the franchise worked alongside the NFL to get him suspended, and that he feels betrayed by the team.

“We are able to have communication now with Adrian,” Spielman said Monday. “We’ll keep all those communications internal. I don’t want to give you guys a blow-by-blow [account] every day. I think it’s been very clearly stated that we want to have Adrian Peterson back. There’s no question about the talent. He’s a unique talent and he’s under contract with us next year.”

Last season, Peterson was only able to play in one regular season game before he was suspended for the remainder of the season. He has been the NFL’s unquestioned best running back for the past few seasons, and has run for 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns in his career.

It will be interesting to see whether or not the Vikings are able to change Peterson’s mind.

Feeling betrayed isn’t something that goes away very quickly, and Peterson is going to need a lot of convincing to return to Minnesota. More than likely, the Vikings will end up being unsuccessful as far as talking him into returning in 2015.

There have already been reports that he has listed five teams that he is most interested in being traded to. If that is indeed the case, then his mind could very well be made up already.

At 29 years old, Peterson also needs to make the decision of whether or not he wants to continue with the rebuilding process that the Vikings are going through. Teddy Bridgewater appears to be a quality NFL starter, but the Vikings still have quite a few pieces missing from the puzzle.

Expect quite a few more rumors to swirl about Peterson throughout the next couple weeks, and don’t be surprised to see him on his way out of Minnesota before the offseason ends.
