Nike Ndamukong Suh banner removed from Detroit building
After the Detroit Lions passed on putting a franchise tag on Ndamukong Suh, the free agent’s Nike banner was removed from a building in Detroit.
After the Detroit Lions didn’t slap a ridiculously large franchise tag on Ndamukong Suh earlier this week, most are expecting that he’ll choose to sign elsewhere to become the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. In a possible foreshadowing act, Suh’s Nike banner was removed from a Detroit building near Ford Field on Thursday.
A Nike banner featuring Ndamukong Suh with the caption “This Is A Wall” had been up on a seven-story building in Detroit just two blocks from Ford Field since September and it was removed Thursday. The question is whether it’s simply a coincidence or foreshadowing that Lions fans won’t see the All-Pro defensive tackle in their uniform again.
According to CBS Detroit, Michael Cook of the Detroit Media Group, the company that hung the banner, said the removal of the ad had nothing to do with Suh’s uncertain future. The ad was only paid to run between September and December and was on override.

Ndamukong Suh was the leader on a solid Detroit defense in 2014 that ranked as the top rushing defense in the NFL. He recored 44 tackles and 8.5 sacks. Suh was drafted second overall by Detroit in 2010 out of Nebraska.
Now, Suh is looking at other teams that are actively pursuing him including the Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raider (who he will visit next week), New York Giants and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Ndamukong Suh is eligible to sign with a team as early as Tuesday when free agency officially begins, as he is expected to sign a contract even larger than J.J. Watt’s $100 million, $51.9 million guaranteed deal. It’s doubtful we’ll see Suh back in a Detroit uniform, but it’s still a big possibility as the team is still actively pursuing the defensive tackle.
