Submarine Mode: Tesla Model S Nods To James Bond

facebooktwitterreddit

The Tesla Model S has a hidden feature that allows your car to jump into submarine mode James Bond style — kinda.

Aside from being the coolest, most technically innovative car on the market, the Tesla Model S also comes with an interesting hidden feature that may just surprise many owners (and bring a smile to the faces of Bond fans). Apparently, if you do a little digging in the dashboard’s computer you can set your car to become a submarine a la The Spy Who Loved Me.

Well, at least it turns into a submarine on the computer. Check it out below.

That’s right. If you enter “007” in the login you’ll be able to turn your car into the Lotus Esprit S1 Submersible just like in the movie. Funny enough, you’ll also be able to adjust your depth to 20,000 leagues (Jules Verne anyone?).

The easter egg makes sense despite its cheekiness. Back in 2013, noted billionaire genius Elon Musk bought the original submarine car from the film for $866,000 just because he freaking can. There’s no doubt that Musk had a little more than a small role in hiding the easter egg.

Musk has made headlines recently for his attempts at becoming the billionaire madman we have all seen in Iron Man but have never gotten until now. From building a high speed rail between LA and San Francisco, to trying to bring the internet to Mars, he truly is doing some crazy stuff that makes me happy he isn’t trying to take over the world. Which honestly, if he does doesn’t sound too bad.
