The Cleveland Browns have re-signed the running back ahead of the start of free agency

After making an impact in the final month of the season, the Cleveland Browns announced that they have re-signed running back Shaun Draughn. Draughn signed with the Browns at the beginning of December and played in the final four games of the season.

While Draughn didn’t record any snaps at the running back position or catch any passes, the team was impressed with his impact and the effort that he put toward special teams.

Well that impact, has earned himself another contract with the Browns.

According to Adam Schefter, the deal is for one season.

Draughn joins a young but promising backfield for the Browns, which features Terrance West, Isaiah Crowell and Glenn Winston.

Draughn began his career as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina. His first appearance in the league came with the Kansas City Chiefs for a couple of seasons before bouncing around with the Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, San Diego Chargers and ultimately ending up with the Browns in December.

General manager Ray Farmer was very high on his running back group back in December when he spoke to the team’s website.

"“I like all of them,” Farmer said in December. “I like Shaun Draughn, a kid who we brought in late and contributed on special teams. I like Glenn Winston, who nobody really got a chance to see carry the ball but I think he’s got some upside to him and I think that everyone likes to reference Crow and West and, to that tune, I would tell you that they both have chances to be successful players in this league and have the upside to carry enough of the load for us.”"

The Browns recently shored up their quarterback position when the team signed Josh McCown. Now the team appears to have addressed the running back position before free agency even begins.

While the Browns have many issues to address, the running back position is not one of them after the signing of Draughn.
