49ers think Frank Gore is leaving in NFL free agency
By Mike Dyce
The San Francisco 49ers don’t think running back Frank Gore is returning and will leave in free agency.
NFL free agency is just a couple of days away and teams are jockeying for players already in the tampering window. The San Francisco 49ers are trying to hold on to long-time running back Frank Gore, who is getting offers to leave the only team he has ever known.

The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly amongst the teams who are interested, as are the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles of course have just traded away starting running back LeSean McCoy, who is only a couple of season removed from leading the league in rushing. The Colts traded for Trent Richardson hoping he would regain form and live up to promise but has fallen short.
While Gore’s future is still uncertain, the 49ers are under the assumption that he is already out the door.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that they’re under the impression he won’t be back and are looking around at other options to replace him.
Gore is well past that dreaded 30-year old running back mark and will turn 32 in a couple of months. He still rushed for 1,106 yards last season and averaged 4.3 yards per carry.
He is certainly capable of being the back for a team for at least another season. Add in Darren Sproles to add a little bit of explosiveness and a weapon in the passing game and you could have a solid 1-2 punch for the Eagles.
For Gore, playing with the Colts puts him on a team where he can contend for that elusive Super Bowl title.
