The Kansas City Chiefs slapped outside linebacker Justin Houston with the franchise tag, and one thing is clear, he isn’t thrilled about it. There have been reports that he would even hold out as long as he could.

While holding out till week 10 and then signing to play the final six games seems like an intriguing idea, Houston isn’t ready to throw in the towel on skipping town. Because it is rarely ever used, you might not know that franchise tagged players can get offers from other teams. The reason why you almost never see this is because they’re going to have to pay the player a lot of money and forfeit two-first round draft picks to make it happen.

Not a bad haul for the Chiefs if they another team makes Houston an offer they can’t match.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Houston is actively trying to find a team or multiple teams willing to make him an offer so that he can skip town.

Houston almost broke the sack record last season with 22 on the year, and there are certainly teams that would be interested in acquiring him. It is just a matter of a team wanting him so bad that they’d give up two first-round picks for him.

It seems like potentially too high a price tag, especially given the money it’d take to sign him as well. But there is always some team that will throw him a lot of money and surrender those picks if he is viewed as the missing piece in a championship puzzle.
