Soon after acquiring LeSean McCoy, the star running back and Buffalo Bills have already agreed on a new five-year contract.

The Buffalo Bills traded for LeSean McCoy just five days ago, and the two sides have already come to terms on a new five-year, $40 million deal.

There were rumors that the Bills and McCoy were working on a new deal and there was definitely fire behind that smoke.

McCoy was originally scheduled to make $10.25 million in 2015 – only behind Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch – but his new total of $16 million will make him the highest-paid running back next year by a whopping $3 million.

What’s funny is how extremely different this contract is than his last one with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The biggest reason McCoy would have wanted to rework his deal was because he had no guaranteed money after 2015. That was obviously McCoy’s main concern with this contract as the Bills will pay him $26.5 million in guaranteed money.

Reports came out that McCoy wasn’t thrilled about becoming a Buffalo Bill, but it looks like money might just buy McCoy a little bit of happiness in this case.

This deal comes a day after running back Mark Ingram agreed on a four-year, $16 million deal to stay with the New Orleans Saints. Obviously Ingram isn’t on the same level as McCoy, but he is still a very good running back in this league – and that contract seemed awfully low for him.

DeMarco Murray appears to be the next big running back that will make some contract noise, and it will be interesting to see what he can get after these first two deals. Murray was probably sweating a little bit after Ingram signed his deal, but this McCoy deal has to give him some new hope to getting the huge contract that he wants (and deserves).
