The Philadelphia Eagles were expected to sign free agent running back Frank Gore this offseason, but he is reportedly reconsidering his deal.

Frank Gore reportedly had reportedly agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles on a deal for him to replace LeSean McCoy, but that deal may be in jeopardy. According to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Gore is reconsidering his deal with the Eagles and could consider signing with the Indianapolis Colts instead.

It would certainly be a huge loss for the Eagles, but a huge gain for the running back needy Colts. Gore is an interesting fit with the Eagles anyway, as Chip Kelly runs an up-tempo style of offense that doesn’t necessarily fit Gore’s skill-set. Indianapolis would be a much better fit for him, and he would have a much bigger role in the offense.

Andrew Luck would be ecstatic to have Gore in the backfield with him, and it would be the missing piece that the Colts’ offense has desperately needed. Ryan Grigson has been aggressive at trying to acquire running backs before, and that will be the case once again this offseason.

Philadelphia would be pretty upset to see Gore walk away from the agreement that they reportedly had. McCoy was a huge part of their offense, and they need to find a replacement for him quickly. Kelly obviously wanted Gore on board and has respected his game for a while, and losing him in free agency would be tough to handle.

Needless to say, this just adds to the intrigue that is the 2015 NFL offseason. There are quite a few big name players on the market that want to make sure that the next chapter of their career is where it should be. Gore is one of those players, and he is obviously struggling with the decision of where to play his next contract.

All of that being said, it is going to be very intriguing to see where he ends up signing this offseason. The Eagles and Colts both make sense for him if he’s looking to compete, although he would be much better suited with the Colts. He hasn’t agreed to a deal formally, which allows him to reconsider anything that he has told the Eagles.

Expect to hear plenty more news about Gore over the next day or two, as he continues to consider where to sign. Don’t be surprised to see him rescind him agreement with Philadelphia and sign on with Luck and the Colts.
