Four-star offensive tackle commitment, Jean Delance has decommitted from the Oklahoma Sooners after a racist video surfaced from Oklahoma fraternity.

The University of Oklahoma responded quickly after a racist video surfaced on Monday morning of SAE fraternity members chanting racial slurs which quickly forced the hand of Oklahoma President Dave Boren to shutdown the fraternity.

“You are disgraceful. … Real Sooners are not bigots, real Sooners are not racist,” Boren said in a statement, via Tulsa World.

Despite the quick action from the President, there was some damage that could not be contained with the decommitment from Delance (West Mesquite, Texas) as his decision to walk away from his verbal commitment leaves the Sooners with one commitment for the 2016 class.

Granted, it is very early in the recruiting process, and recruiting pales in comparison to the real-life issues in play here, but the actions of those cowards has already influenced one kid to not come to Oklahoma.

His personal reasons are directly related to the disturbing video, according to Bob Przybolo from Soonerillustrated.com, the Oklahoma site on the Scout.com network.

Delance is the No. 162 overall recruit regardless of position, the No. 16 offensive tackle and the No. 24 player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Oklahoma coaches and captains decided to cancel their spring practice on Monday and walked side by side in a demonstration deriding the ignorant and hurtful chants of the SAE members.

“It’s sad the ignorance that can still be there with some people. It’s just appalling,” Bob Stoops said. “I was here to be with my guys. We all work with beautiful young men and women of all races. It’s just, you know, very little gets me choked up. But that hurt.”
