Free Agent QB Shaun Hill has signed a deal to join the Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have been looking for a solution at the quarterback position for a long time and have found their solution after drafting Teddy Bridgewater. The team was looking for someone to take the reigns in the backup role after they traded Matt Cassel to the Buffalo Bills. It looks like they have found their man with their latest signing of Shaun Hill from free agency.

Some fans wanted to see Brian Hoyer added as the backup to Bridgewater, but the team did not want to overpay for the backup position. Instead, they are going to give their money to Hill and he can lock down the position for the team. He will be a solid backup on the roster.

Hill is heading into his 14th season in the league and is 35 years old. He has started in 46 games and has a record of 23-23 during his career. He will be a serviceable vet that can work with Norv Turner in the offense and help give the team a solid backup if he were to be called into a game. Hill also spent time with Turner in San Francisco and should be familiar with his terminology and offense.

The team will win behind the arm of Bridgewater. Hill will be the guy that needs to come in and take a knee  from time-to-time. If he is asked to take a bunch of starts, he will be a decent starter. He is not going to blow the world away though.

Hill’s contract is woth $6.5 million over the next two seasons. He can earn up to $500,000 in incentives (ESPN).
