Even during a swing and miss, Bryce Harper’s hair a hit

Bryce Harper’s hair pushed off his batting helmet in a spring training at bat.

Bryce Harper has a lot going for him. He has been destined to be one of Major League Baseball‘s next big things for the past few seasons now. His team, the Washington Nationals, are poised to make another serious run at a World Series championship. He has one of the most beautifully sound swings in the sport today. And on top of all that, he has a glorious mane of hair.

In fact, it is so magnificent, a mere batting helmet cannot contain its sheer brilliance.

Check out this clip below, courtesy of MLB GIFS, which features a swing and miss from the young Nationals left fielder. In the video, you will notice two things.

The first is that Harper’s swing is still very much reminiscent of a young Ted Williams. The second is that he probably should invest in either a haircut, or a bigger batting helmet.

The latter option is clearly more sensible. Not in the literal definition of the word, but in the baseball context.

Players have historically been notorious in believing superstitions. A big one, for many players, is not changing their hairstyles once the season is underway. Some are less strict about this, and can make the call to get a trim prior to the regular season.

For others (and we will categorize Harper as such due to his historic of eccentric baseball related behavior), the superstition kicks in as soon as pitchers and catchers report.

If the Nationals start winning, Harper stays healthy, and he continues to improve his game overall, do not expect him to stray from this look. We are not complaining, after all. Why should anyone?
