Before the Philadelphia Eagles swapped quarterbacks with the St. Louis Rams, the Cleveland Browns reportedly tried to acquire Sam Bradford.

Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles were able to shock the world again prior to the start of the NFL Free Agency period, when the team decided to trade starting quarterback Nick Foles and draft picks to the St. Louis Rams for Sam Bradford and picks in return.

It was a questionable move, but one that the Eagles felt they had to make.

As it turns out, if the Eagles and Rams had not agreed to a deal, there were a handful of other teams out there who were looking to acquire the former first-round pick who is coming off of an ACL tear in back-to-back seasons.

One of those teams was reportedly the Cleveland Browns.

Ultimately, the Cleveland Browns were unable to swing a deal and chose to go with veteran Josh McCown as competition for Johnny Manziel. Whether they decide to target a quarterback in the 2015 NFL Draft remains to be seen.

But, with a full arsenal of draft picks which includes two first-rounders, you would have to believe the Browns could have gotten a deal done if they really wanted Bradford.

Instead, he ends up in Philadelphia where he will be reunited with Pat Shurmur, who has his offensive coordinator during his rookie year in St. Louis — where he won the 2010 AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Bradford has plenty of talent, but he needs to stay healthy. There is also the fact that Philadelphia could ultimately trade Sam Bradford in a package that will get them into the top ten to draft Chip Kelly’s guy, Marcus Mariota.
