Trent Richardson is no longer a member of the Indianapolis Colts.
After his promising rookie season with the Cleveland Browns, where he really was the only productive player on the roster, many thought Trent Richardson was going to be the next big thing at the running back position. At 5-foot-9, 230 pounds, Richardson is a smaller back, but he packs a punch and he’s an extremely aggressive runner. Richardson has a strong build.
Despite this, Richardson’s playing style is extremely violent and it could lead to a number of injuries over the course of his career. Midway through the 2013 season, the Indianapolis Colts traded for Richardson, to provide a running game with Andrew Luck. However, the Colts have now parted ways with Richardson.

Although the news will surprise many people, considering how good Richardson was and how good he could be, it really comes as no surprise at all that the Colts waived Richardson. This was the same guy who lost his starting job to Donald Brown in 2013. Richardson started the 2014 season splitting carries with Ahmad Bradshaw, but after the latter performed and the former didn’t, Bradshaw started to get more carries and it was made clear that he was starting running back and not Richardson. It should also be said that Richardson was inactive for the first two playoff games in the 2014-2015 playoffs. He was also suspended for the AFC Championship Game after he missed the team’s walkthrough because of a family emergency.
In 316 carries with the Colts, Richardson ran for just 977 yards and only six touchdowns. He averaged only 2.9 yards per carry in 2013 and only 3.3 yards per carry in 2014. Although he hasn’t looked like himself in two years, Richardson is still only 24 years old and there will be a few teams this offseason interested in his services.
