The Buffalo Bills signed wide receiver Percy Harvin Friday and Sammy Watkins is very happy about it.Ā

The Buffalo Bills agreed to terms with former Seahawks and Jets wide receiver Percy Harvin Friday and current Bills receiver Sammy Watkins explained his joy over Twitter.

Percy Harvin was released earlier this month by the New York Jets after playing for current Bills head coach Rex Ryan last season in New York. The Jets acquired Brandon Marshall from the Chicago Bears and Harvin was on the way out after a deal was made.

Harvin, 26, was looking for his fourth team in four years. He played only eight games with Ryan and the Jets after arriving in a midseason trade with the Seahawks after reports of Harvin being detrimental to the team especially in the locker room.

Sammy Watkins was drafted fourth overall by Buffalo in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Clemson, and quickly made a splash in the NFL as one of the top rookie receivers when he finished with 982 yards receiving and six touchdowns. Heading into his second year, Watkins is clearly happy to have a player like Harvin lining up with him.

Percy Harvin hasn’t played a full season in the NFL since 2011 with the Minnesota Vikings, and the wide receiver who was considered one of the big up-and-coming NFL stars as yet to catch for over 1,000 yards in a season. Harvin will get a chance to prove what he’s all about in Buffalo and he’ll need to in his first year after signing the one-year deal with the team.
