The Cleveland Browns need some weapons for their offense, and Dwayne Bowe might be able to help them out.

Dwayne Bowe was released from the Kansas City Chiefs this week after spending the first eight years of his career there. In that time, Bowe totaled 532 catches for 7,155 yards and 44 touchdowns. He was sent to the Pro Bowl in 2010 after having over 1,000 yards receiving and an insane 15 touchdowns.

The Chiefs cut Bowe after the team signed star wide receiver Jeremy Maclin through free agency, and Kansas City will save $14 million this year by not keeping him.

Bowe had a strong beginning stretch to his career, but the receiver hasn’t hit 1,000 yards in any of the past three seasons and only has a combined eight touchdowns during that time. However, even as bad as that sounds, Bowe is still only going to be 31 years old once the season starts and should have more to offer for another team, especially if he has a chip on his shoulder.

Bowe is now a free agent and can sign wherever he pleases, and it appears that his first visit will be with the Cleveland Browns. ESPN’s Josina Anderson was the first to report Bowe’s move.

The Browns recently signed former Miami Dolphins receiver Brian Hartline, but the team still needs a lot of help at the position as they really only have him and Andrew Hawkins. In fact, Bowe would probably be considered the number one receiver in that offense. However, even if the Browns get Bowe, the team should still look to add a young receiver through the draft.

No one should be surprised if the two teams agree to a deal tonight since first visits often end up in a deal.

It’s time to see if Bowe can salvage the rest of his career.
