Mike Wallace was on the Baltimore Ravens’ radar before ending up with the Minnesota Vikings.

With Torrey Smith signing with the San Francisco 49ers, the Baltimore Ravens were in the market for a wide receiver. In the 2012-2013 season, when the Ravens won the Super Bowl, their receiving corps consisted of Smith, Anquan Boldin, and Jacoby Jones.

Well, all three are no longer here, so it’s not a surprise that the Ravens have actively searched for a wide receiver. One wide receiver who was on the Ravens’ radar was Mike Wallace. However, he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings.

Without Smith, the Ravens’ receiving corps now consists of Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken, Michael Campanaro, and Marlon Brown. In the AFC North, a division that always seems to be decided towards the end of the season, the Ravens have to be concerned with this group. Smith is no longer the player he once was, despite his surprising 2014 season, Aiken was virtually a special teams player up until last year, Campanaro is a guy that really can only produce out of the slot, and Brown is a guy that saw most of his production come in the 2013 season.

With all of that bring said, trading for Wallace would’ve costed something, but it would’ve also been a nice addition and it would help this offense out tremendously.

In his NFL career, Wallace is known for his deep-threat ability. He has top-end speed that allows him to take the top off of defenses. Considering Joe Flacco and how far he can throw the football, having Wallace would’ve been huge for him. Now that Wallace is a Viking, the Ravens will likely have to wait until the draft to bring in perhaps one or even two receivers. Missing out on Wallace will sting for a while, however, if the Ravens can bring in a quality rookie, it will be huge to their offense.
