Former Vikings receiver Greg Jennings holds no ill-will towards his former team, despite the fact that he was cut on Saturday after two years. Jennings released a statement thanking the team and the fans, and saying that he respected the Vikings’ decision to amicably part ways.

According to a story by SI.com, Jennings said that it was an honor to play for the Vikings and that he enjoyed his time there while making good friends. He also added in a part about the fans, thanking them for welcoming him to the team (from the rival Packers) and then thanking Minnesota for being such a great community.

Jennings also said he planned to continue making Minnesota home for himself and his family, as well as continuing to work for his charity there.

Jennings was released on Saturday, officially due to a failed physical, but in reality to free up cap room suddenly strangled by the team’s acquisition of Mike Wallace. Combined, Jennings and Wallace would have ate up $20 million in cap space. The Vikings had to do something. That something ended up being Jennings’ release. Although, Jennings wasn’t terrible in the two years he played for the Vikings, he averaged about 750 yards and five touchdowns, he probably didn’t live up to expectations either. Though, it should be mentioned he had to deal with the instability of four different starting quarterbacks during that time. The Vikings signed him in 2013 from the Packers, giving him a five year deal worth $45 million.

What’s next for Jennings’ NFL career after nine years? There are plenty of teams still looking to add a receiver and Jennings’ veteran presence should count for something, even if it’s not a blockbuster deal. The Seahawks have been rumored to be a fit, if only because Seattle seems to love picking up former Vikings. The Raiders are still looking and the Eagles are another possibility.

Jennings shouldn’t be a free agent for long.
