Floyd Mayweather signed the Pacquiao contract with a $4K pen

Undefeated five division world champion and number one pound for pound boxer Floyd Mayweather signed his contract to fight rival Manny Pacquiao with a gold pen worth $4,000.

What do you use to sign the contract to the most lucrative boxing match up of all time? If you are Floyd Mayweather, you use the most expensive pen anyone has ever seen or heard of. The undefeated, five division world champion recently graced the bottom of a deal that all but finalizes a long-awaited bout with fellow all-time great Manny Pacquaio using a $4,000 gold pen.

It is a move that is as extravagant as the man committing the act.

Over the years, Mayweather has had a penchant for the lavish. His eccentric spending practices have been well documented. Who can forget the time he dropped $700,000 in Manhattan’s famous “Diamond District” on 47th street?

How about that other time he spent $1 million on a watch made from Russian cut diamonds?

Yes, extravagance is the name of the game for Mayweather, who is set to collect sixty percent of the total fight purse from the sport’s all time biggest payday.

The pen was crafted by Cross and is aptly named the Peerless 125, as that is the total number of the golden writing instruments issued around the globe. After handling it with a pair of white gloves, the pound for pound number one boxer retired the utensil for good stating that it is now “a part of history.”

A spokesperson from the company commented on the occasion. He stated that it was an honor to add the boxing great to the list of “noble” clientage who have frequented the brand for important matters; one that includes president Barack Obama and television/media magnate Oprah Winfrey.

Leave it to “Money” to drop four grand on a pen, then never use it again. If that is not the definition of opulence, we do not know what else to say. Below is a video of the actual signing courtesy of TMZ Sports.
