Helmet stickers are going to be returning to Michigan helmets in 2015 thanks to Jim Harbaugh.
Apparently the changes at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh will be starting with the uniforms.

According to a report from Rivals.com, University of Michigan football will be bringing back helmet stickers for the 2015 season.
The team is known for its trademark blue-and-gold helmet (sorry Michigan, “maize” is not a color, it’s a name for corn that nobody ever uses), which it has worn since 1938. But the helmet hasn’t had stickers on it for decades. At the time the stickers had a wolverine on them; one can assume they will be the same stickers as before, but the program might decide to use completely new stickers this time around. Exact details have not been announced yet.
The report also revealed that the Wolverines will be discontinuing the Legends jerseys that were worn during the Brady Hoke era.
The Legends Jerseys were uniforms introduced under Brady Hoke, worn only by team leaders. They were regular with a special patch on the jersey with the name of a former Michigan legend such as Desmond Howard or Charles Woodson, on them. The patches were huge and a bit distracting, and the team had already started the phase them out last year, so it’s no surprise that they’ll be gone for good now.
As for the helmet stickers, they’re not a new idea; they were worn during Harbaugh’s time at the University as quarterback, so he may have been pushing for their return. At a tradition-heavy program such as Michigan’s, it’s always important that any changes have root in team tradition. If there had never been any stickers on Michigan helmets, this may have been met with a small level of public outcry (or at least, as much public outcry as can be mustered over football uniforms).
The stickers weren’t as plentiful as, say, the Ohio State buckeye stickers, which can cover the helmet, but there’s always the risk that these stickers will crowd a helmet that’s one of college football’s very best. We’ll have to wait to see them on the actual helmet before judging.
And hey, as with any uniform/logo news, it’s at least more interesting than the Cleveland Browns’ “new logo.” We’ll always have that.
