ESPN’s Jon Gruden took some time out of his busy schedule to analyze some of the featured competitors in the upcoming Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WWE WrestleMania 31.
Jon Gruden might have a little too much time on his hands these days. The popular ESPN NFL analyst is featured breaking down WWE highlights instead of his usual quarterback reels. Thus, we are left to ask ourselves the following question. What on Earth is Gruden doing cover professional wrestling?

It would appear that the WWE has paired up with ESPN to have the former Super Bowl winning head coach and NFL Draft commentator share his thoughts on a few of the competitors featured in the upcoming Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. The match is set to take place on Sunday, and the company’s annual WrestleMania event.
Participants spotlighted in the match include former Florida Gators defensive tackle turned pro wrestler Titus O’Neil (real name Thaddeus Bullard), Ryback, and Curtis Axel.
After giving a brief overview on the legend that is Andre the Giant himself, Gruden turned his attention to O’Neil, pointing out his sack of Peyton Manning back when the two were in college, when the quarterback a member of the Tennessee Volunteers.
Gruden claimed his favorite heading into the pivotal match, one that awards the winner with a gigantic trophy in the likeness of the 400+ pound WWE Hall of Famer, is Ryback, while also noting that the aforementioned Axel could be a dark horse selection.
The entire segment is available below. And while it is interesting to see coach Gruden leaving his comfort zone in football, something tells us there is a consensus forming that the man should stick to what he knows. Professional wrestling should be left to the veteran play by play men, like “Good Old JR” Jim Ross.
Actually, we take that back. A Chris Berman edit of this video needs to be made, and soon. If that cannot be arranged, we will settle for a Frank Caliendo’s impression.
