Lionel Messi hangs out with Alex Ovechkin, Robert Griffin III (Photo)
A hockey star, football star and a futbol star hung out in Washington D.C. at FedEx Field where Lionel Messi, Robert Griffin III and Alex Ovechkin got together.
Robert Griffin III didn’t get to play much football at FedEx Field last year as he battled injuries and poor performance for the Washington Redskins, but he was in his home stadium on Friday to watch some futbol.

Griffin was there to see the Argentinian national team and star Lionel Messi who are in town for a pair of friendly’s with the first taking place on Saturday at FedEx Field against El Salvador.
RGIII is a big fan of Messi and even cheered for them with a Messi jersey on during the World Cup last summer where they finished as the runners-up.
He wasn’t the only Washington D.C. sports star to visit with Messi as Washington Capitals three-time Hart Trophy winner and the NHL’s leading goal scorer, Alex Ovechkin was on hand to see the soccer superstar.
The picture below has a great deal of star power and makes me wonder, about a picture of active sports stars that could trump this grouping.
Ovechkin, like RGIII, is a fan of Messi and posted this to his Instagram page after Argentina lost to Germany in the World Cup Finals last summer.
Messi and Ovechkin share some similarities.
Messi is the greatest soccer player on the planet and Ovechkin is a candidate to win his fourth MVP award and possibly lead the league in points and goals.
As for RGIII?
He is clearly not in that same class after losing his job to Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy last year. Injuries have made the dynamic player we saw three years ago that won the offensive rookie of the year award crumple into an ineffective quarterback who could be on his way out of the nation’s capital after this year.
At least he’s friends with Messi so he’s got that goin’ for him.
