To say that Real Madrid and Barcelona hate one another would be one of the biggest understatements you could make in the soccer world. As a result of their hatred for one another it’s not every day that players from one club praises one of their rivals, even if they play on the same national team.
However Sergio Ramos has been quoted singing the praises of his Spain colleague Andres Iniesta.
"“The figures over his career tell you all you need to know. He is a magical player. “"
Barcelona beat rivals Real Madrid 2-1 last week to put themselves four points clear at the top of the table. Even with 10 games left to play in the league, the momentum is so far in Barcelona’s favor that Real Madrid are very unlikely make up the difference. That didn’t stop Ramos telling everyone about the high esteem in which he holds Iniesta.
"“There are few players in the world that can compare to him, but unfortunately he is not with us at Real Madrid.”"
That’s not a bad compliment to get, I guess you’re not allowed to hate Iniesta if you’re Spanish. After all, he did score the winning goal in the 2010 World Cup final…pretty much gives you a pass for the rest of your life.
"“Iniesta is the boyfriend that every mother wants her daughter to have. “"
Ramos was speaking while away on international duty with Spain. The current European champions are at home to Ukraine in a very important Euro 2016 qualifier. Spain and Ukraine are level on points in 2nd and 3rd place in their group respectively, a loss for the Spanish could bee devastating in terms of automatic qualification for the tournament. Ramos will be have to be at his influential best when they come up against the Ukraine today at 3.45 ET.
