Joey Logano, another Ford, finished in third and made a late push as well but there wasn’t enough laps left to get to the front for the winner of the pole.
Hamlin’s teammate Matt Kenseth tried his best to hold off Keselowski and Logano, and finished in fourth after a tough week last week in California, that saw Kenseth’s race end because of a broken axle.
Kevin Harvick, who has been on fire all season had another Top-10 finish, finishing eighth overall.
Jeff Gordon, at one point was in first and looked like he was going to pick up his first victory of the season. However speeding down the pits cost Gordon, as he had to come back through as a result of a penalty.
He would work his way back toward the front after the penalty and would finish ninth.
His teammates Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. weren’t as lucky as wrecks tore up the cars. They would finish 35th and 36th respectively.
It was also a great day of racing by Danica Patrick, who finished seventh overall. She made an impressive maneuver to avoid slamming into Paul Menard, who got turned sideways during a wreck.
With the STP 500 in the books, here is the complete finishing order.
