The Dallas Mavericks had a special visitor in attendance for their regular season finale on Thursday with Johnny Manziel on hand to lend his support to the team.

Celebrities attend NBA games all the time, especially if you’re in New York or Los Angeles, but the Dallas Mavericks had a Texas-sized celebrity of their own in the house for their season finale against the Portland Trail Blazers with Johnny Manziel in attendance.

More from Cleveland Browns

Manziel has kept a quiet profile since he was released from a rehab facility where he spent more than two months receiving undisclosed treatment, but he showed his love and support for the Mavs on Thursday night.

The Mavericks had been locked in the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference Standings, but their opponent in the first round wasn’t determined until the end of the night.

Dallas and Portland will not have a rematch of last year’s first-round series and Dallas will play the Houston Rockets and MVP candidate James Harden in a Lone Star State showdown.

Game 1 in the series is Saturday in Houston but there’s no word yet if the Cleveland Browns quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M will be in attendance for the start of the playoff series. Manziel likely has bigger things on his plate with the Browns beginning offseason training activities soon and needing to make up for lost time on the practice field after his time in rehab.

He’ll be an interested observer in the NFL Draft that kicks off in exactly two weeks with the first round and the Browns potentially in the market for a quarterback if they can package their two first round picks and move into the top handful of picks for the right to draft Marcus Mariota.

Should the Browns draft Mariota it could signal the end is closer than the overwhelming majority of people would have imagined after watching Manziel star for the Aggies in College Station for two years. Should he find himself out of the NFL in the near future, he could always be the No. 1 fan of the Mavericks and join some business venture with team owner Mark Cuban and set up a booth for autographs.
