Chris Sale went looking to fight Yordano Ventura after Royals-White Sox brawl

Why wait for the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight when you can just watch some Kansas City Royals baseball?

Yesterday’s brawl between the Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox sure was a nasty one – and even more details are starting to come out.
Things started to get nasty when Kansas City’s Yordano Ventura hit someone with a pitch in the fourth inning, and then Chicago’s Chris Sale did the same in the following inning (maybe for retaliation).
That should have been the end of all the nastiness, but things took a huge turn a couple of innings later when Ventura thought it was a good idea to be a complete jerk (nicest way it can be said) for no reason at all when a ball was hit right to him.
It’s not hard to read his lips right there. It was totally uncalled for and really showed a lack of maturity, and it ultimately started the brawl.
Things can always be worse, but that was a pretty bad fight and five players ended up getting ejected: Ventura, Sale, Lorenzo Cain, Jeff Samardzija and Edinson Volquez. Suspensions haven’t come yet, but they should be expected.
After the game, Sale brushed off the thought of any suspension by saying: “I think that’s the farthest thing from anyone’s mind right now.”
Sale shouldn’t have been so relaxed about the suspension before, but now he should be even more worried as some extra news from last night has come out.
Really? Sale was looking for a fight? Some pitcher on pitcher action would be fun to watch, but this just seems really stupid on Sale’s part. What was the best case scenario in his mind? He goes to the clubhouse, finds Ventura, everyone circles around them so they can fight in peace? No, this isn’t high school and that’s not how things go. It would have simply created another huge mess.
It seems like proving something like this would be next to impossible, but if the MLB believes he tried to do this then he should definitely get suspended. You just can’t have players thinking it is alright to instigate things like this.
The whole situation kind of reminds me of what happened in the NBA not too long ago. Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics had said some things about Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks that he didn’t like, and Anthony tried to do something about it. After the game, Anthony reportedly waited by the Boston bus to confront Garnett and maybe even start a fight. Just like Sale, what the heck was Anthony thinking here? Go ahead and try to seem like some big tough guy for your image, but at the end of the day it’s just childish.
