Here are my FanDuel pitcher picks for late April 25:
High priced ($7,200 and up)
Best Bet:
Adam Wainwright ($9,600): The Brewers have been a disaster on offense so far this year. Adam Wainwright won’t help their cause any. Wainwright is 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA in his first three starts. He has struggled some against the current Brewers lineup, but a lot of that damage was done by Carlos Gomez and Jonathan Lucroy, both of whom are on the DL.
Honorable mention:
Shelby Miller ($8,400): Starting anyone against the Phillies is a solid bet lately. Even David Phelps dominated them last week. Miller has a lot of talent, and it should be on full display against a Phillies offense that just can’t get it going.
Stay Away:
Wei-Yin Chen ($7,200): Chen has not had a lot of success against Boston. In fact, Daniel Nava, David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia have hammered Chen in his career. If you want to save some money, there are less risky ways to do so.
Bargains ($7,000 and under):
Best Bet:
James Paxton ($6,400): How young are the Twins (and Paxton, for that matter)? The current roster only has eight at-bats against Paxton and one hit. That one hit is a Torii Hunter home run. Paxton got knocked around in his last start, but tonight he gets the offensively challenged Twins at home. This could be a very good game for Paxton.
Honorable Mention:
A.J. Burnett (6,900): Burnett has been effective so far this year, posting a 2.00 ERA in three starts. The Diamondbacks are not a great hitting team either. Burnett isn’t going to dominate anyone, but he gets outs and has a good chance for a win against Rubby de la Rosa.
Stay Away:
Jorge De La Rosa ($5,800): Ol’ George was hammered at home in his first start of the season last week. His career numbers at Coors Field are good, and the Giants are not a great offensive team, but I don’t trust him tonight. I still don’t think he is “right”.
Good luck to you all tonight!
