The Detroit Lions seem to go through phases but can’t break on through to the other side. They were godawful from the late-90s through all of the 2000s, even losing every single game in a season once. But with a franchise quarterback, a franchise receiver and a determined head coach, the Lions have turned things around.

Detroit made the postseason in 2010 as a wild card team but lost in the first-round — a cycle that repeated itself this previous season. But there were two years of terrible football in-between playoff trips for the Lions and they’re hoping that won’t be the case again.

They lost Ndamukong Suh in the offseason, but added Haloti Ngata, someone whom head coach Jim Caldwell is familiar with from their days in Baltimore together. They still have needs on offense though, and the defense needs to recoup for the loss of Suh.

Last year, Mike Mayock had the Lions selecting Darqueze Dennard with the No. 10 overall pick. That would have been a great pick for a Lions team that once again enters the draft with draft needs in the secondary, but they elected to go with tight end Eric Ebron at No. 10 overall instead.

This year, Mayock has the Lions selecting Andrus Peat with the No. 23 overall pick.

What did Lions fans have to say about the pick?

Detroit should have listened to Mayock last year, but things ended up working out alright for them as they landed a franchise tight end in Eric Ebron. This time around, Mayock has them filling a need on the offensive line with Peat, and they’d be wise to follow his instructions.

Will the Lions listen to him this time around?
