Few teams have had as eventful an offseason by doing so little. A better way to say it might be this: few teams have lost so much in an offseason in terms of production and seemingly replaced it with so little.

Yet, after losing two key stalwarts along the defensive line—most notably Ndamukong Suh, but also Nick Fairley—and a third key defense line guy, George Johnson, the Detroit Lions seem rather unfazed.
They acquired Haloti Ngata and seemed destined to turn to a 3-4 defense, despite having one of the finest defenses in the league a season ago running a 4-3 scheme and maintaining the same defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.
Strangely the Lions were mostly carried by their defense a season ago. The focus this offseason is getting the offense back to a point where it is the strength of the team, as it ought to be with Calvin Johnson, and the terrifically talented arm of Matthew Stafford.
The Lions could seemingly go any direction—but receiver and tight end—in the first-round, and have a lot of spots on their roster that could be upgraded through the draft. But with only six selections, they need to be a bit more diplomatic and wise with their picks than a team who may have eight or nine.
Here are the six picks the Lions hold in this weekend’s draft, which begins Thursday evening.
