There’s no deal for Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson after the first two days of the NFL Draft.

All-Pro Vikings running back Adrian Peterson remains with Minnesota, despite chatter that a draft-day deal might happen. The Vikings do not think that Peterson is out to make things difficult and force a trade either, according to Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press.

If anything, the most urgent tone towards that end has come from Peterson’s agent, Ben Dogra. However, even he took on a more conciliatory tone after the first round, as detailed by USA Today.

Rather than continuing to press trade talks, he instead urged the Vikings to show good faith towards Peterson and convince him that they really want him to stay in Minnesota.

Dogra said that he appreciated the Vikings’ resolve in continuing to maintain that they do not intend to trade Peterson. The team has essentially said so far that they won’t trade Peterson unless he demands a trade. It doesn’t seem like Peterson is disgruntled enough to force the Vikings to find him another spot. Dogra added that, while he appreciates the team’s resolve, he would like to see the Vikings put forward a real commitment to keeping Peterson. Thus far he says he hasn’t seen anything like that.

So what could the Vikings do? There’s a few things. They could guarantee some part of Peterson’s remaining contract. He is due $46 million over the next three years, but none of it is guaranteed at this time. Dogra has hinted that this is the type of commitment he would like to see from the Vikings, otherwise he would continue looking for a trade for Peterson. He did say on Thursday that he didn’t expect any team to offer a first-round pick, considering Peterson’s age and mileage. The Vikings have leaned on him considerably during his career and he has over 2,000 carries.

Vikings GM Rich Spielman was curt in his summation of the situation on Thursday. He refused to talk about whether anyone called or not and flatly said that Peterson is under contract with the Vikings. Period.

As for Dogra, one could say that he’s been the most provocative party in this whole thing, constantly telling reporters that he wants Peterson to leave the Vikings and even posting a message on Facebook where he’s in front of a Peterson jersey while wearing a Bucs hat, one of the running back’s rumored suitors.

Dogra defended himself though, saying that he was hired by Peterson to fight for him and if means scrutiny and looking like the bad guy, he’s willing to do it.
