Daily Fantasy Baseball: Late FanDuel Picks For May 6

facebooktwitterreddit

There are 12 games in the evening slate on FanDuel. Here are my “Best of the Best” selections for FanDuel lineups in the late May 6 contests:

Pitcher

Ubaldo Jiminez (BAL) at NYM for $6,900:  The resurgent righty has been stellar this year for the Orioles, going 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA, .079 WHIP, and 22 Ks in 22 2/3 IP over four starts. His decent 12.2 FPPG number is even skewed low because he was ejected on 4/17 in the 4th inning as he was shutting out the Red Sox. His mound opponent today, Jacob DeGrom, has struggled of late going 0-2 with 9 ER in 10 1/13 IP over his last two starts. The Orioles are only a slight underdog (+106) in New York and pitcher friendly CitiField, and Jiminez’ $6,900 salary is a steal against a Mets’ offense that has only scored 20 runs in their last eight games.

Hitters

C Brian McCann (NYY) at TOR (Buehrle) for $3,200: McCann (.250 BA, 2 HRs, 15 RBIs) has been productive lately with 3.8 FPPG in his last 6 contests hitting in a surprising potent Yankees lineup. He brings in very good splits against Buehrle (11/27, .406 BA), who is off to an awful start (6.75 ERA) and has given up 24 hits and 13 earned runs over 10 IP in his last two outings. Ignore the Lefty/Lefty matchup and take McCann at Rogers Centre in a potential slugfest (run line is 9) between the Yankees and the Blue Jays.

SS Starlin Castro (CHC) at STL (Lynn) for $3,100: Castro is off to a decent start with a .298, 2 HRs, 15 RBI, and 2 SB so far in 2015. He faces Lance Lynn at Busch Stadium (5th in league with a 1.21 runs park factor), to whom Castro owns good numbers (11 for 33) in his career. Castro is not the sexiest pick, but could give you good production at a position that is very thin tonight.

  • OF Andrew McCutchen (PIT) home vs. CIN (Leake) for $3,800: McCutchen is scuffling so far with a .193 average for the Pirates. However, he has hit safely in 6 of his last 7 starts.  The four-time All-Star (career .296 BA) has always been a relatively slow starter in his career, with a .260 March/April BA as opposed to a .314 BA in May. As he inevitably heats up, take advantage of his reduced salary ($3800) to get someone who can score points for you in many ways. McCutchen’s splits against Leake aren’t great (.246 BA, 2 HRs in 57 AB), but at home at PNC Park where he has a career .310 BA and SLG% of .509, he’s worth a flyer at this price.
