Reports claim that David de Gea has not made up his mind on whether to remain at Manchester United or leave the club for Real Madrid

Sky Sports correspondent Guillem Balague has claimed the reports suggesting David de Gea has signed a deal with Real Madrid are false, but the goalkeeper is still deciding between the two clubs.

"“He has not committed himself as has been published in the Spanish media. He hasn’t signed anything with Real Madrid but he has got a decision to make.”"

Manchester United will be desperate to try and hang on to their star asset, but when Real Madrid come looking for a player they usually get him. The Spanish goalkeeper has had an incredible season with Manchester United, and is all but certain to claim the club’s ‘Player of the Year’ award.

Real Madrid still have legendary goalkeeper Iker Casilias in their ranks, but the 33 year old has been criticized for some performances in the last couple of seasons and de Gea would be likely to take his place between the sticks.

Balague went on to say that were de Gea to stay at Manchester United, he would be given a contract with a lot more earnings than he would get at Real Madrid, such is the desire to keep him in Manchester.

"“On the table, there is an offer from Manchester United which increases his wages by five times and he will not earn as much money at Real Madrid,”"

Apparently however, this is not just a case of money or professional standings as the Spanish keeper has a few personal reasons to return to his native land. Take away the fact that it’s an honor to play for the legendary Real Madrid, de Gea’s family and girlfriend are living in Spain which will obviously play a factor in his decision.

"“The money is an issue but he also has to make a decision that also is to do with personal interests – his family is not there all the time and his girlfriend would love to be in Madrid more than in England.”"

This is a summer transfer story that will rumble on for quite sometime, but it’s looking likely that the 24 year old goalkeeper will return to Spain and join up with one of the biggest clubs in the world. If he does sign for Real Madrid, I believe they will be that much stronger next season and will once again challenge for the Champions League title.
